Description Technical Specs   Pontiac Billet Aluminum Power Steering and Alternator Bracket for V-Belts This mid-mount Pontiac Alternator and Power Steering Bracket Set for V-belt applications is just what you need for your Firebird or Trans Am. The bracket is made from aircraft quality 6061-T6 billet aluminum and is precision cut using CNC machining, which makes for a stronger and longer-lasting product. This bracket is designed to be used with OEM or our billet aluminum pulleys and fits engines dating back to 1970 with Driver's Side Mounting. NOTE: Requires Driver's Side Cylinder Head with 6 bolt holes in the end of the head. Earlier cylinder heads with only 4 bolt holes will also require part number POW-2046. ***FITS 1970 AND NEWER PONTIAC V8 ENGINES: 350, 400, and 455. Note: This kit only works with 1970 and newer taller 4.5" water pumps. PART NUMBER: POW-2045 Step 1: Remove water pump pulley and old alternator bracket. Step 2: Attach Alternator Extension Bracket (18) to Alternator using 5/16-18 X 1" SHCS (4). IMPORTANT: Do not tighten any bolts until the end. Step 3: Attach Alternator Bracket Assembly to water pump using : Tob Bolt: 5/16 X 2" SHCS (5) and 0.850" Spacer (13) Middle Bolt: 3/8 X 4.5" SHCS (2) and 0.800" Spacer (12) Bottom Bolt: 5/16 X 2" SHCS (5), Adjusting Rod (9) and 0.440 Spacer (10)Note: Adjusting Rod goes between Bracket and Spacer Step 4: Attach Alternator Adjusting Rod (9) to water pump using 5/16 X 1" SHCS (4). Step 5: Install alternator using 3/8 X 5.5” SHCS (3) with 2.940” Spacer (14) between alternator and head. Step 6: Attach Adjusting Rod (9) to alternator relocation bracket using 3/8 X 1" SHCS (4). Step 7: Remove bottom bolt from the back of power steering pump and attach 0.850" Spacer (12) and Power Steering Rear Support Bracket (18) to the Rear of the Pump using 3/8 X 1.75" HHS (8). (Round hole should attach to the pump - use the slot to attach to the head) Step 8: Attach Power Steering Pump to Bracket using 3/8 X 1.50" HHS (7), 3/8” Washer (16) and 0.520" Spacer (11). Note: Spacer should be between bracket and Pump. Step 9: Attach Power Steering Adjusting Rod (9) to Power Steering pump using 3/8-16 X 1.25" HHS (6). Place 0.200 Thick Aluminum Spacer (15) between Adjusting Rod and Power Steering Pump. Step 10: Attach Rear Support Bracket to Cylinder head using 3/8 X 1.75" HHS (8) with 0.850" Spacer (13) between bracket and cylinder head. Step 11: Tighten all bolts except the ones that will need to move during belt tensioning. Install belt, set proper belt tension and tighten all remaining bolts. If using our billet Pulleys, use a Series 15 belt (15/32” wide at the top). To determine the proper length, cut your old belt and use it to measure. Most auto parts stores sell these belts in 1” increments.
