Description   1970 - 1972 Trans Am Air Cleaner Base Single Snorkel Ram Air III with Correct Domed Lid New reproduction single snorkel air cleaner for 1970-72 Trans Am with Ram Air III and HO 400 / 455 engines. A single snorkel air cleaner; 1 heat diaphragm, set up to accept the functional shaker hood scoop. The two tabs on the air cleaner secure the scoop to the base. Includes correct domed air filter lid. Replaces GM part number # 6486668. Fits 70, 71, and 72 Trans Am models with Ram Air III, 400 or 455 engines. This version features a single snorkel design. This is the correct base to accept the functional 70-72 hood scoop assembly. Please note~ Works great for all Pontiac V8 engines with a 4 barrel Quadrajet carburetor and a stock height intake. Some Holley, Edelbrock, etc. aftermarket carbs may need modificaion or the fuel line drop down fitting.
